Hello Friends & Family,

If you don’t know me by now, my name is David Palermo. For over 75 years, my family has been helping Canadians with their insurance needs, and alongside that, we’ve always shared a deep passion for hockey. From the moment my parents bought me my first pair of skates, the sport became a defining part of my life—teaching me teamwork, perseverance, and dedication, both on and off the ice.

For me, being part of a team is second nature. That’s why I’m honored to continue my partnership with the Baycrest fundraising team for the fourth consecutive year. This cause is deeply personal, not just for me but for countless families across Canada.

The fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia is one that hits close to home. My family has been personally affected by this devastating disease, and I’ve seen firsthand the toll it takes on loved ones. In 2022, I joined forces with Baycrest, one of Canada’s top 40 research hospitals, because they are leading the way in the battle against Alzheimer’s.

Their work provides:
✔ Specialized care for patients
✔ Groundbreaking research towards a cure
✔ Innovative therapies to improve quality of life

I’m constantly reminded of how many people are affected by this disease. Just recently, a dear friend of mine lost his mother to Alzheimer’s. Because of the funds we raised, she was fast-tracked into care at Baycrest’s world-class facility. Though she passed just a week later, he told me it was the best care he had ever seen—and he was beyond grateful for Baycrest.

This isn’t just about fundraising. This is personal.

Our Impact – And The Challenge Ahead

Looking back, I never imagined the impact we would have. Thanks to the incredible support of donors like you, we have raised over $325,000 in just three years!

But we’re not stopping there. This year, the sky is the limit! If we work together, we can set a new fundraising record and change even more lives.
