I’m raising money in support of Baycrest by participating in the Mattamy Homes Bike For Brain Health.
Our family knows dementia personally. We lost David's father to this and now, David's mother is in its grasps. Now at each visit with Leila Sr, we look for a spark of her former self. We tell stories to keep her spunk and spirt in the forefront. So, yes, being part of this event means a lot to us.
More than 770,000 Canadians are currently living with dementia — a number projected to soar to nearly one million by 2030 as Canada’s population ages and demographics shift, without intervention. And multiply that number by all the family members and friends who support their loved ones and who are affected by the illness' reach.Your support helps raise critical funds for Baycrest, a global leader in research, care, education, and innovation in the field of brain health and aging.
At milestone birthdays, I try to plan events and include a fundraiser for causes near to my heart. I have reached the conclusion that every birthday is a milestone one! Each one marks a year of ups and downs, moments to remember and moments we want to sweep away. I am doing this event for my 66th birthday and for Carlos and Leila. I hope these funds can help make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected today.
Please join me in doing what we can to help.
