I've seen what brain health issues can do to a family. Watching someone you love slowly forget who you are — who they are — is something that's hard to put into words. It's cruel, it's exhausting, and it doesn't just affect the person going through it. It changes everyone around them.
I've seen it with my own family, and it's not something I can just sit with anymore.
The reality is, dementia affects over 55 million people worldwide and that number isn't getting any smaller. Chances are, you know someone too. Maybe you've already got your own story.
That's why I'm riding 90km this year in the Bike for Brain Health in Toronto. The money raised goes toward brain health and dementia research at Baycrest — work that's trying to change the trajectory for the millions of families dealing with this right now and the ones who will in the future.
I'm not asking for anything crazy. $25, $50, $100 — whatever you can swing makes a real difference. And if donating isn't in the cards, sharing this page with someone who might is just as valuable.
Appreciate you taking the time to read this,
Ben
