Since 2018, I’ve been participating in an important fundraiser for Alzheimer’s and dementia research through the Pro-Am in support of the Baycrest Foundation, one of the world’s top neurocognitive science centres in research on memory and aging.  And this is the largest charity hockey event in North America.

My family’s story resonates with so many of my friends who have also been impacted in one way or another by this terrible disease.  My mother suffered with dementia for almost 20 years before her passing in August of 2025.  After my Dad, who cared for Mom into his 90's, passed away, we were so grateful to be able to eventually find a place for her close to our home.  The impact of ALZ and dementia not only threatens to rob our loved ones of their vitality and lives, but the ripples extend throughout entire families.  I know some of you can relate only too well.

 This year, our tournament is kicking off on Friday, May 1st.

 The Baycrest Foundation’s mission is to enrich the quality of life of older adults by providing crucial funding to support Baycrest’s work in research, innovation, care and education in brain health and aging.  The more we can learn about how to eventually win the battle against these diseases, the sooner every older adult can ‘Fear No Age’.
