I was practically born with skates on my feet!
That photo of me (front row second from the right) says it all. Growing up in Northern Ontario, I am endlessly grateful for my health and the abundance this life has given me. But not everyone is so fortunate. Alzheimer's and dementia rob people of the very things we take for granted; memories, identity, and independence, leaving families helpless as they watch someone they love slowly disappear.
This season, I'm lacing up for the Pro-Am for Alzheimer's in support of Baycrest, skating alongside NHL alumni to fight for those who no longer can. Because everyone deserves to be remembered.
Even if you can't be on the ice with me, you can still be on my team. Any contribution no matter how small helps us get one step closer to a world without this disease. Think of it as your assist on the most important goal we'll ever score.
Funds raised in the Pro-Am for Alzheimer's will be used to support Baycrest Foundation, one of the world’s top neurocognitive science centres in research on memory and aging and an important referral site for patients from Northern Ontario.
